Frappato - Red Grape


Frappato is a varietal grown in various regions of Sicily, but most notably in the wine region of Vittoria, in the southern part of Sicily. 


This wine is gaining some popularity outside of Sicily, where it has been known to be a beautifully crafted varietal, sometimes as a blend, but now, creating its own market as a stand alone varietal! When blended, it is usually done with the Nero d'Avola grape, creating the only DOCG in Sicly, the Cerasuola di Vittoria. 


Tasting notes: Frappato is light bodied and amazingly aromatic. It has remnants of cherry, almond and dried earth. Truly worth tasting, as a blend or as a varietal!
